THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
NORTH AMERICAN, BRITISH AND EUROPEAN BOXERS

Let's examine the heads country by country....

EUROPE

Typical heads of good type

European Heads - Photos

Very typical good European heads although I would prefer them to have longer muzzles and bigger noses, although in these dogs the nostrils are open.

Virtues in the best heads from Europe ...
  • Good rise of skull
  • Well shaped dark eyes
  • No excess wrinkle
  • Good depth of muzzle
  • Good mouths
  • Correct chin
  • No excessive flews

The best European dogs have very good rise of skull, excellent expression and dark fully pigmented eyes.

The heads are clean with little wrinkle and the skin is smooth over the skull and the flews are not heavy.

The depth of muzzle is excellent and lip placement is usually good. The mouths are wide and the chin is always present.

Departure from type in some heads...
  • Too arched in skull
  • Too short in top skull
  • Too short in muzzle
  • Excessive padding
  • NOSE TOO SMALL
  • Pinched nostrils
  • Chin too prominent - Bulldoggy

Many dogs are much too round in top skull plus many have foreshortened top skulls presumably to blend with the short muzzle. The effect from the front is "pretty" but is it good Boxer TYPE?

Noses on ALL the dogs are much too small and some have pinched nostrils. This will really create a problem if let continue.

Chins are becoming much too prominent in some dogs and look unbalanced and off type …more to Bulldog type than Boxer type.

There is a tendency to loose skin in some lines and excessive padding.
