THE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN
NORTH AMERICAN, BRITISH AND EUROPEAN BOXERS

Are they so different that we need to create two separate breeds as they did with the Cocker Spaniel and more recently the Akita?

There are some people who believe that the Boxers are SO different in North America and Europe they should be separated into TWO breeds. The working Euro Boxer and the USA show Boxer.

It is my opinion that when you actually look closely at many of the TOP WINNING BOXERS of today from these areas, (as shown on the top of each page of this article) the main differences appear to be just...

• The STYLE of the country where the dog was born - still keeping within the TYPE laid down by the standard
• The AMOUNT of ELEGANCE or SUBSTANCE the dog posseses
• The way the dog is HANDLED! - stacked - baited - or faced up to another dog.

These dogs are all typical of the areas we are discussing. They are all winners over the past few years in their area.

Certainly the STYLE is different! Remembering those slight variations of STYLE in a breed is allowable as long as TYPE is maintained!

These dogs are also top winning dogs in their countries of origin.

Are they really so different that we need to divide them into two breeds?

I personally don't think so, if we concentrate at looking at the BEST specimens in each area!
